Saturday, October 26th, 2019 - Do love Halloween? As in, you love it so much, you put out your Halloween decorations the day after Labor Day, if you've even taken them down at all?? If so, do we have an event for you! Join us on October 26th, from Noon until 3pm, for a signing of Hallowzine: Sometimes They Come Back. Hallowzine is a horror and Halloween-themed comics anthology produced by Northside Comic Artists. It will be 100+ pages of comic goodness featuring 25 stories by 28 creators, many of whom hail from the Chicagoland area. Five of the creators from the book: Edward Witt, John Golden, Tony Recktenwald, Robin Carnilius, and Jessica Checkeroski will be on-hand to sketch in and sign copies of the newest edition. Plus! Candy! Costumes! Absolute Joy for the Season! We personally volunteer you to participate in this fiendish endeavor!!
Northside Comic Artists is a collective of comic creators based on the North side of Chicago. They hold a weekly drink and draw as well as a number of other art-related events around the city. Monday, October 28th, 2019 - LUKE HEALY, the artist behind How to Survive in the North and Permanent Press, will be at Challengers on Monday, October 28th for a cartooning workshop and a signing for his newest graphic novel, Americana (And the Act of Getting Over It)! Luke will be putting on a cartooning workshop at 7pm, called "How To Be The Best Pictionary Player In The World", a 30-minute cartooning workout where participants progress from representing simple ideas to more complicated ones while Luke explains the core principles of cartoon drawing. Afterwards, we'll have a signing for Luke's newest book, Americana!
This event runs from 7pm to around 9pm. Event is free to attend, but a book purchase would be appreciated.
More about Luke Healy: "Luke was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, where he also received a BA in Journalism. He has an MFA in Cartooning from the Centre for Cartoon Studies in Vermont, USA. His work has been exhibited in the Museum of Comics and Cartoon Art in Manhattan, and his clients include Seven Days VT and Narratively."

Per usual, this event is BYOB and BYO-SNACKS. However, some snacks and beverages will be provided. And you're more than welcome to bring any crafts you're currently working on!

Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 – GUSTAVO DUARTE (“Bizarro” “Guardians of the Galaxy”) returns to Challengers!!
It’s been 5 long years since internationally-renowned artist Gustavo Duarte was last in Chicago (he lives in Brazil, dontcha know), and on that trip he became our bestest friend! Well, we haven’t seen our bestest friend in FIVE YEARS but that's all about to change!
Gustavo will be signing copies of his wonderful new DC Kids graphic novel DEAR JUSTICE LEAGUE (as well as anything else he’s worked on) and we couldn’t be more excited! This one is for the whole family; so bring the kids, Grandma, and Uncle Philo, too!
